1934 D'Angelico Exel
A battered beauty... On this very early instrument, D'Angelico spelled the name as "Exel" rather than "Excel". It was refinished in blonde in the D'Angelico shop in the '40s as was fasionable then. The guitar has the same scale as my later ('51) Excel, but the body size is almost an inch smaller, and it weighs 2 pounds less... A very lightweight guitar which has a beautiful tone. Original pickguard was missing so I made an engraved reproduction guard.
